Maya Moran Manny was born on August 31, 1934, in Eindhoven, the Netherlands as Marianne Uyterhoeven, aka Maja/Maya. Manny is an accomplished artist, author, columnist, lecturer, garden designer and preservationist, as well as a mother of four, and grandmother of eight.
Family
Manny was first married to John McElroy Moran, M.D. in 1956, had four sons, and divorced in 1991. In 1995 she married Carter Manny, FAIA, a student of Mies van der Rohe, apprentice of Frank Lloyd Wright, and partner of C.F. Murphy firm of Chicago. Upon retirement he became the Director of the Graham Foundation for Advanced Studies in the Fine Arts. Carter retired to California with Maya and died in 2017.
